Red Sports Cars
What do the red Chevy Corvette, red Ford Mustang, red Dodge Challenger
and their imported counterparts: the red Maserati, red Ferrari,
red BMW M3, red Lamborghini Murcielago, red Porcshe Cayman, red
Mazda RX-8, red Honda CR-Z, red Audi A-5, and of course the red
front wheel drive Fiat Barchetta, Saab Sonett and Lotus Elan have
in common?
Of course they are all smokin' hot sports cars. Oh yeah,
and in this case, they are all red.

Notice that we are not talking here about concept cars, which
are designed to make a statement, show off a technological advance
or are prototyped by the manufacturer in a one-off design to get
feedback from consumers.
Neither are we looking at sports cars as red
race cars - those cars built, designed and altered by racing
teams to compete, head to head, with like designs and engines
but different drivers. Car racing is a sport derived from the
competition of individual against individual using cars and a
racetrack as the method and means.
Sports cars may take advantage of race car technologies - and
manufacturers often test new concepts, designs and equipment on
race cars to make parts and technology for use in their sports
car models. But red sports cars are not race cars.
No, sports cars are a different breed. Created with style and
design - with the primary purpose of speed and maneuverability,
sports cars are built to be sleek, low-slung and curve-hugging.
They are engineered to be fast and to be driven by people who
seek that kind of excitement.
Let the buyer beware, though, that hot little red sports cars
are not necessarily built for comfort. While newer models might
be a little more creature comfort oriented than older models were
- with actual padding in the seats and cup holders - a sports
car has not taken driver comfort as one of its major purposes.
The sports car will have hard seats meant to support the body
of a driver and passenger through high speed acceleration and
tight cornering.
Although there are some four-door models available, sports car
will likely be a two door model low to the ground. The ground
hugging clearance provides great aerodynamics at the same time
causing the driver or passenger to contort their body and slide
into the seat by twisting and ducking. These cars are not designed
to carry more than the driver and one passenger. Most have either
an abbreviated rear seat or no rear seat at all.
Sports cars are designed to look good and go fast. They attract
a specific market due to their styling and design. While their
cost can be more than the average daily driver sedan, they only
make up less than three percent of all cars sales according to
some automobile magazines.
Whether you choose a domestic or an import, when you pick this
model of red sports car you pick it for speed and maneuverability,
sleek style and design.
